Dear Partner Organizations,

Happy 2021!

Last November marked a historic achievement in our collective pursuit of equal rights, when the racial-preference ballot initiative Proposition 16 was defeated on the California ballot by an overwhelming margin of 57.2% v. 42.8%. This landmark victory signifies our movement's moral alignment with the public in California and nationwide, the majority of whom embrace equal treatment for all, merit and liberty. It also demonstrates the emergence of Californians for Equal Rights (CFER), a broad-based alliance promoting this people-based civil rights movement.

While we celebrate the extraordinary 2020, it's time for our triumphant alliance to grow and flourish in 2021, especially in light of a continued need to champion the cause of equal rights. Our journey to promote equality and merit is far from being complete. Various ongoing attacks on equal rights in public schools and other public domains in California and beyond warrant a timely expansion of our alliance to focus on initiatives for public awareness, civic engagement and policy monitoring.

In this uplifting spirit, CFER calls upon all our partner organizations to join our Coalition for Equal Rights. Your participation means that you will support CFER's ongoing mission to advance and educate the public on the principles of equality and merit as a civil society partner. Currently, CFER is carrying out several important initiatives, the successful implementation of which will benefit tremendously from your group's participation:

1. A growing effort to expose and counteract the critical-race-theory foundation of ethnic studies.

2. An emerging compact to support local, regional, and national groups to promote merit-based admissions and academic selection as a better alternative to racial balancing.

3. An ongoing undertaking to hold our public agencies (government offices, public schools and universities, etc.) accountable with regards to upholding the constitutional principle of equal treatment for all.

To participate in this honorable coalition, please fill out the form below. If your organization participated in our No on 16 coalition, you don't have to submit the form: simply let us know by January 15, 2021 if you object to participate in our alliance.

Thank you in advance for your continued support of equal rights!

About Californians for Equal Rights Foundation (CFER):

We are a non-partisan and non-profit organization established following the defeat of Proposition 16 in 2020, with a mission to defend and raise public awareness on the cause of equal rights through public education, civic engagement and community outreach. In 1996, California became the first U.S. state to amend its constitution by passing Proposition 209 to ban racial discrimination and preferences. Prop. 209 requires that “the state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.” CFER is dedicated to educating the public on this important constitutional principle of equal treatment.
